About the Warwick Open

Based in the midlands, our club is steeped in sword fighting history. Battles have raged around us, Kings have killed and been killed right on the ground we walk, and Shakespeare wove his words a mere 20 minutes away.

This history has inspired the midlands to be a bedrock of Sabre fencing in this country and with close links to Shakespeare’s Swords, and a flourishing novice and experienced fencer programme our club is a community with a true passion for fencing.

With all this in mind we are proud to present a ranked BF Open Competition, open to all who are 13 years and over. We aim to be a fun, friendly and of course competitive Open. We encourage entries from those who may be looking to enter their first Open and those who have done many. We are in an easily accessible location close to Birmingham and Coventry train stations, perhaps even being England’s most central Open. Prizes will of course be awarded to the top four fencers in each category.
