DO I NEED MY OWN KIT?
Not at all, the club can provide all the necessary kit. All you need is clothes you are comfortable doing sport in, and we highly recommend you bring some water.
NOTE: you will NOT be allowed to fence in leggings or shorts.
DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE FENCING?
Nope! Most of our members come to us with little to no experience. Throughout term 1 we run a beginners' course that takes you from learning which end of the sword to hold to being ready to compete in our National Novices Competition.
CAN I COMPETE?
Absolutely. We host two competitions a year, the Warwick National Novices (for students from all universities) Competition and the Warwick Open (for all). Apart from external competitions, we host two additional internal friendly competitions. We also have 2 men's BUCS team and 1 women's BUCS team, both of which compete regularly. We also send fencers to the BUCS Individuals competition and attend multiple opens throughout the year.
NOTE: To be in a BUCS team you need to be a full- or part-time student at Warwick University.
CAN NON-STUDENTS JOIN?
Yes! You might not be able to compete in some competitions, however you can train and join our socials. You can join as an associate member. For further details how to do this visit Warwick SU website.
HOW CAN I JOIN?
Warwick SU has a guide on how to join clubs. You'll need to have a Warwick Sport membership, then you can find us on the SU website and buy a membership. When you check out, you'll be prompted to purchase Sports Federation membership which you will also need.
