MEET THE COACHES

Conor Bateman
Head Coach
Hi there, my name is Conor Bateman and I am the head coach here at Warwick University Fencing Club. I am heading into my second year here at the club after moving to the area just over a year ago. I am looking forward to helping the club succeed in fostering greater fencing potential amongst experienced and beginner fencers. I look forward to meeting you all in September.

Tomy Soghoyan
Performance Coach
I started fencing at the Specialized School of Olympic Reserves when I was 10 years old, and since then have competed in multiple national and international competitions. My most notable achievements are receiving bronze and gold medals in the USSR championship, as well as receiving the title "Master of Sport", awarded by the Minister of Education and Sport of the USSR.
My career as a fencing coach started in 1993. Throughout it, I have been a national team coach for Juniors and Cadets in Bulgaria and Turkey. During that time, my students competed and achieved top places in competitions like Cadet and Junior Circuits, as well as European and World Championships multiple times.

Calum Wilson
Volunteering Coach
I have been coaching at Warwick since 2013, first as a student-coach, then as a volunteer. Qualified in all weapons, I was part of the team that won British Fencing's inaugural "Club of the year" award.
